Rugged Manic New England is another large obstacle course race where the competitors race against the clock to complete 25 obstacles. This year on Saturday, I was placed at the Accelerator, the final obstacle is a large water slide.
Accelerator
Accelerator shots are normally catching the participants as they slide down the water side. With a 70-200mm lens, those shots are okay, (not enough reach) but it gets interesting as the participants are getting off the obstacle or standing in the pool of water at bottom of the side. Being the only photographer at this obstacle, it was a busy day, shooting both side of the slide and group shots out in front of the slide. I came away with over 7000 shots.
Frog Hop
Day 2, Sunday I was stationed at the Frog Hop obstacle. This one can be really fun, the participants run across floats in a mucky pool while trying to maintain their balance. Sundays seem to have less competitors than Saturdays so its a little less stressful. I shot around 3000 shots.
